TREVOR COX

Documentary Filmmaking

Biography

After growing up in Reston, Virginia, Trevor attended New York University where he pursued studies in Documentary Filmmaking and Communications. Currently, Trevor owns PotsNPans, a video production company based out of Brooklyn, NY, and spends his summers teaching primitive survival and outdoor living skills at the Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS) in Boulder, Utah.

Child Slavery

While participating in a study abroad program, Trevor lived in Ghana for 5 months where he produced a documentary on child trafficking and slavery in the Volta Lake Region titled, Volta. In doing so, he discovered a true passion for inspiring change through filmmaking and activism.

Continued Activism

In continued pursuit of this passion, Trevor and his partner Julie Shayka hiked the 2,189 mile Appalachian Trail in 2016, and produced a documentary titled, The Leavers (currently in post-production). The Leavers chronicles their 7-month adventure on the trail with a focus on pursuing "alternative" lifestyles as a means to embolden practices in sustainability, activism, and community building.
